Setting up iMessage on your iPhone is a rather simple and easy process. And for many people, chances are, it is already on. But if you recently bought a new iPhone or previously turned iMessage off, you can turn it on in just a couple of steps.

1. I just updated to iOS 12.1.1 and transferred my AT&T SIM to eSIM on my iPhone XS. I then inserted my foreign SIM into the iPhone XS to play around with the iMessage and FaceTime setup. Like others, my old setup was to run each SIM in separate iPhones, which registered both my USA number and foreign number in iMessage and FaceTime.
2. Unique to iPhone and iPad, you can also Sketch, Heartbeat, or Tap on top of a photo or video. Launch Messages from your Home screen. Tap on the Store button, which looks like the letter A. It's between the camera button and the text box. Tap the Digital Touch button. It looks like two hands in a heart. Tap on the Camera button.
